PICTURES: Fire crews remove casualty from tall building

Firefighters aided the ambulance service in removing a casualty from a tall building, the fire service said.

A spokesperson from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that they received a call from the ambulance service to St David’s Gate, Lancing and arrived at just after noon.

The fire service sent two engines from Shoreham and Worthing and three members of the technical rescue unit to aid in the recovery.

According to the fire service spokesperson, it was decided that the safest way to remove them from the building was via an aerial ladder platform rather than down the stairs.

They completed the recovery and left the scene at just before 1.30pm.

Richard Airey from South East Coast Ambulance service confirmed that paramedics were called to St David’s Gate at 10.30am but would not comment further as it was ‘a medical incident at a private residential address’.
