Shoreham gardeners compete in first spring show since 1949

Shoreham Horticultural and Allotment Society has held its first spring show since 1949.

Tuesday, 20th April 2021, 9:29 am

The event was the society’s first virtual show of 2021 and quite an occasion, as it has been so long since there has been a spring show.

Held on Saturday, April 10, the show had 89 class entries and show secretary Daphne Thomas said it was ‘very pleasing’ to receive 787 online votes.

The worthy winners were Julie Clarke in first place, Ted Banks and Ron Sullivan joing second, and Janet Colchester third.

Daphne said: “Well done! Thanks must also be given to all those who voted. We hope you enjoyed the show.

“We have, if all goes according to government guidelines, our annual plant sale on the forecourt of the Shoreham Centre on Saturday, May 22.

“Our next virtual show will be Saturday, June 26.”
