Pogo bounce-a-thon has young cousins jumping for joy

Two young cousins are putting their recent birthday presents to good use, raising money for disabled children by doing a month-long bounce-a-thon

Solomon Nicholson, eight, and Jacob Anderson, nine, both received pogo sticks around the same time, as birthday gifts.

With the second national lockdown looming, they decided it would be a fun joint challenge to pogo 500 times a day for 30 days - 30,000 jumps in total.

Solomon jumps away around his home on Shoreham Beach, while Jacob bounces in London.

Catherine Nicholson, Solomon’s mum, said: “We left them totally in charge of working out who to raise money for. They decided the best thing they could do was help poorly babies and children, so that led us, after some googling, to the Newlife charity. They have already exceeded their target of £250 with £340 raised so far.

“At the moment, Solomon is sticking to the 500 per day, whereas Jacob is doing more on some days and having the odd day off - he managed 3,040 pogos on the way back from school the other day.

“They have been out in rain and shine so far. They have been video calling each other to bounce together some days. Our hope is that lockdown will be eased by the end so they can do their final bounces together in person.
