Minister Sara Jane Boden will conduct the welcome and prayers, and the service will feature poems and a section on remembering Ashley through sharing stories and memories.

Music will include Memory from the musical Cats and Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat from the 1970’s film The Aristocats.

Kate Greening, Worthing Borough Council’s Bereavement Services Manager, said: “Ashley will be very much missed by all of us here at the Worthing Crematorium.

“Although his origins were unknown, he provided a significant amount of comfort to bereaved families and visitors, as well as being a friendly and familiar face for our staff.

“We hope that this service will give those who knew Ashley the opportunity to say their goodbyes and give their tributes.”

The memorial service will take place in the Muntham Chapel, Worthing Crematorium, at 12pm on Saturday 22 September.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to attend a gathering before the service, where refreshments will be provided, from 11am.
