This one-year-old tends to lack in confidence and is particularly fearful around men, though meeting any new people can be a little overwhelming.

Staff at the rehoming centre are hoping to find a family who could gradually introduce Zara to life’s many wonders, while not expecting too much of her, as she has some worries about the world around her.

A patient and gentle approach to building friendship will go a long way. Zara is ever eager to be in the company of those she trusts, she adores affection and likes to greet people with a paws-on-shoulders cuddle and waggy-tail.

The youngest members of the family must be over the age of 16 and visitors will need to be of the same age.

The ideal home for Zara would be somewhere quiet and peaceful, where she can take each day as it comes. A garden will be essential and she will need to be the only pet in the household.

Zara is unsure around most dogs but is especially worried around larger breeds and those of a boisterous character, so she will need to be walked in quieter areas where she can avoid bumping into them unexpectedly.

Dogs Trust Shoreham said: “Ultimately, an understanding family who could dedicate lots of their time, support her with some ongoing training and involve her in all aspects of their day-to-day life would be a perfect match for Zara.”
