Community group seeks residents’ views on Shoreham and how to improve it

The Shoreham Society has launched a brief online survey to help inform its direction going forward and find out what issues matter to residents.

The anonymous survey asks residents how the town could be improved, with some examples including more outdoor play areas, a better range of shops, more public toilets or better cycle paths.

It is also seeking new people to get involved and help re-invigorate the group.

Chairman Gerard Rosenberg said: “The society has an excellent record of achievement, a wide range of key contacts and a strong voice for influencing decisions, so it offers a great opportunity for local residents to have a positive impact on the future of their town.

“But the committee needs an influx of younger residents with a passion for the town who can shape and direct the organisation their way for future challenges and opportunities.”

Formed in 1984, the Shoreham Society is a registered charity with no political ties or commercial interests.

It has influenced a number of developments in the town, organises events and makes representations on a wide variety of local matters including environmental issues and public amenities.

Mr Rosenberg said: “We hope interested local residents with ideas about the future of the town will take the opportunity to get involved and move the society forward.”
