Adur Homes’ third family fun day was its biggest yet, with a record crowd enjoying the late summer fun.
Held at Adur Recreation Ground on Sunday, September 18, the fun day saw residents, friends and family enjoy a host of free attractions, greatly helped by surprisingly warm weather on the day.
A spokesman for Adur Homes, Adur District Council’s local authority council housing service, said: “The whole day was a huge success.
“On offer was a hugely-popular dog show, attracting 150 brilliant entries.
“There was also live music, with local band Noble Jacks proving to be very popular.
“Other activities included funfair rides, a foam cannon, face painting and circus skills, among many more.”
There were more than 40 stalls supporting local charities, including 1440 Shoreham Squadron, Air Training Corps, whose and Air Cadets raised hundreds for their group by helping out with the car parking.
Adur Homes is already planning a similar event for next year and would love to hear for anyone interested in volunteering for 2017 to help continue what it describes as a ‘great community-based success story’.
Email email@example.com for more information about volunteering or having a stall next year.
The fun day was launched in 2014 to promote wellbeing in the community.
It was designed to give a number of different charities and organisations the chance to set up stalls for fundraising and increasing awareness.
This year, children were able to decorate dinosaurs and find fossils with Wot A Mess – Messy Creative Play, watch Pole Fitness demonstrations and join in games of Bow Arrow Tag, among others.
Bella Monnery from Pole Fitness said they had ‘a brilliant day’ and Wot A Mess said they ‘had a blast’ with the children and parents.
