Parcel Force site plans submitted

MAJOR plans to develop the disused Parcel Force site in Shoreham have been lodged with Adur District Council.

The new development, Shoreham Waterside, from Urban Life developers, would have 84 one, two and three-bedroom flats, which would include 21 affordable flats for shared-ownership key workers.

Parking for 144 cars would be on the lower ground floor and also space for 120 bikes.

A 78-bedroom "boutique" hotel would take up the front of the development in Brighton Road.

There would also be 627 square metres of commercial space, which could be used for restaurant, retail or a possible gym/health club associated with the hotel.

The development would range from four storeys facing the road to seven storeys facing the River Adur.

The application also includes the refurbishment of the Surry boatyard, next to the Parcel Force site. This would include a new access to the boatyard by extending the Surry public hard.

A legal agreement is proposed to include providing a riverside walk, a pelican crossing and public art.
