Organisers bowled over by charity cricket match fundraising

DOWNPOURS curtailed the action at the annual mayor’s charity cricket match on Sunday but organisers were still bowled over by the money raised.

The match, at Goring Cricket Club, was played between councillors, council officers and a handful of other stand-ins, raising money for the mayor’s three charities.

A total of £150 was raised on the day for Guild Care, Worthing Mind and Worthing Alzheimer’s Society – with a generous £50 being donated by the club itself.

The match ended with a bowl-off, and a victory for the council officers, following a 78 all-out performance from the councillors.

The second innings was cancelled, due to heavy rain.

Canadian Roots and Year in the Life of Worthing creators Pam Wilson and Chris Vowles took the video of the action above.
