Too presumptuous

I WOULD like to reply to Brian Boggis, the chairman of Adur District Council, following comments made in the Lancing Herald on Thursday, November 17, in the article, Frustrated Traders Fighting for Change.

When did you last walk round the shops in Lancing? It is little wonder Lancing needs the voice of its traders to be heard, when the chairman of ADC can have such a badly thought out, presumptive attitude and it goes a long way to explain why Lancing is in decline!

How can traders pay for Christmas decorations when they are struggling to survive? People are not shopping in Lancing because of empty shops and the neglected state of the shopping area.

The petitions are not just about Christmas decorations, it is about the total neglect of Lancing by ADC.

Your suggestion that Lancing traders pay for decorations is at the very best insensitive.

I understand that the decorations that were used in Lancing have been moved to Shoreham because the lamp posts in Lancing are not strong enough to support them, so that’s some decorations not paid for by Shoreham traders.

In fact, we do understand that they could have been a gift from the Lions to decorate Lancing.

May we suggest a meeting is arranged urgently between the district councillors who represent Lancing and councillors concerned with its regeneration and the local traders?
