Too many people already inhabit this island

On reading Barbara Shaw's letter in the Herald, I agreed with everything she said up to about half way through, because it looked as if she was propounding Brexit, but, wasn't.

Her points: individual capitalism, conspicuous consumption,disproportion-ate acquisition of wealth are exactly the reasons to leave. They are active now, while we are in the EU. I cannot believe the naivety Remains have for staying, safeguarding our environment? Who’d disagree with that, but, maybe she doesn’t get out much, otherwise she’d know how crowded everywhere is. Our entire country is staggering along constantly encountering traffic jams. It usually takes an hour to do ten miles through the Lancing, Worthing area on the A27.

Our motorways are usually jammed solid, the M25 is known as London’s car park. The only answer is to build more away from towns gobbling up the countryside, where’s the environment then.

The NHS cannot cope with the numbers of people, the police cannot handle the numbers of crimes, social services are at breaking point. Riots, looting, stabbings, murders, bombings, shootings are on the increase with the intention of disrupting the infrastructure of our culture.

Whenever we have three weeks of sunshine we run out of water, our rivers run dry, simply because, there are too many people using the resources available. The living resources we have cannot cope. If you have a borehole producing 10 gallons of water a minute and 9 people extract 9 gallons in the same period, result: water supply. If however, 20 people use 9 gallons in that period, result: no water.

The population is increasing, so if we do not get immigration under control (which can only be done if we leave) there are going to be, according to figures already published 10 million more cars on the road shortly. The housing required in the next few years is considered to be not housing estates, but, towns. Where is our fertile land then; needless to say there’ll be less room for food production. Already builders are eating into green belt areas, specifically made so to prevent that. If you concrete over vast swathes of land you make more than likely the risk of flooding, because natural drainage has been removed and man made drains quicken the flow into rivers and when that is full it back-feeds into the streets along with sewage and detritus.

I don’t know whether she’s been abroad, but, the biggest litter droppers are non Europeans, they have no infrastructure of rubbish disposal. The majority of our

criminal prisoners are immigrants.

We lead the world in responsible behaviour, that is why they all want to come here, because they know we are an easy touch, but, we are a smallish island; why don’t they go to an EU country called Russia, where there are vast swathes of totally empty prairies to fill, because, Russians are a lot harder and meaner than us. I am a Christian, and I’m all for helping people, but, when our infrastructure is cracking at the seams its time to say please remain in your countries and we’ll help you from here.

The remains seem to think that the British cannot look after themselves, well that is exactly what we are trying to do by leaving. The big question is if we leave, will the remains initiate contrived negativity, allow everything to go downhill, instead of being proactive in the management of this country.
