Once-in-a-lifetime asset

I WAS astonished to read in the Herald that the future of the Ropetackle Arts Centre is threatened by lack of funding from Adur District Council.

Adur has little in the way of live events and the Ropetackle Arts Centre is providing the answer with a fantastic programme designed to reach everyone, of whatever age or taste.

I hope that when our councillors come to vote on the grant to Ropetackle Arts Centre, they vote on the basis of first-hand knowledge, by having attended some of the events provided by the centre.

There is a view that our councillors have shown little interest and are, in fact, quite negative towards its progress.

I hope I am wrong. Adur should give wholehearted support to the centre and not let this once-in-a-lifetime asset to the community fail for the sake of a very small grant.
