Mistake made in article

I am writing to clarify a mistake made in an article published this week about the recent visit by Shoreham society members to Shoreham's twin town Zywiec and their enjoyment of the Polish band, Poki Co.

The short caption mentioned the band being invited by David Steadman, Town Co-ordinator for Shoreham, (the implication being that the council was involved) when in fact the invitation and funding for their tour came jointly from Trevor Passmore of Coombes Farm and the Duke of Wellington pub.

It is perhaps worth noting that in recent years, council funding for the twinning association has been withdrawn, however, David Steadman’s personal connections to the town have helped facilitate the link between Shoreham and Zywiec through his involvement with cultural trips to Zywiec organised by the Shoreham Society.

In an attempt to maintain these links, Poki Co was invited to build upon the musical collaboration that was established in 2015 when members of the band Shady Grove played alongside them at some memorable events in and around Zywiec.

Finally, for your entertainments editor and reviews section, I thought it worth drawing attention to the music line-up offered at the Duke of Wellington pub.

As the ‘home of live music in Shoreham’ the pub consistently promotes local talent and some excellent contributions from further afield. Upcoming events can be seen at dukeofwellingtonbrewhouse.co.uk
