Maltravers Social Club closed through lack of money

The reason the Maltravers Social Club closed as it did is because it simply ran out of money.

The committee did everything possible to keep the club open, even paying bills from their own pockets.

In 2004 the accountant said the club needed takings of £2,000 per week. At the time of closing, £1,000 was a good week.

The club had 350 current members but when did they use it?

The club closed not because of bad management, but beacuse of a lack of use by its members.

A little gratitud to the committee would not be missed. They are still working to ensure a good outcome.
