Lyminster bypass plan '˜mystifying'
I refer to your article on April 21 concerning a town councillor '˜mystified' over delay to new road bypass.
I too am ‘mystified’ with the council’s original bypass plan for Lyminster.
The original, now withdrawn proposal, where the new bypass was to join a small 900m stretch of Lyminster Road (A284) before it joins the congested Crossbush junction does not appear to be a sustainable solution to provide a suitable highway network for a North Littlehampton development.
This ‘forgotten link’ is regularly congested, has had several accidents in the past few years and is dangerous for pedestrians and cyclist.
Surely the council is moving one congested area (the train junction at Wick) up the new bypass to the already congested Crossbush junction along a narrow 900m stretch of road.
I hope the council is reconsidering how they could spend millions on a bypass to join an old road to an already congested Crossbush junction.
Surely this new bypass should join directly to the A27 giving Littlehampton a network suitable for its economic plans.
