LETTER: Voting system

East Worthing and Shoreham Labour Party is very concerned about the new system for registering people to vote.

In our canvassing we are finding many who do not understand that they have to register personally and can no longer rely on a list sent in by the ‘Head of Household’.

A question to Adur Council meeting last week revealed that the council is mostly relying on digital means to inform people.

However this is not likely to reach many elderly and busy people.

We call upon Adur to do more in the way of poster and newspaper advertising to ensure maximum registration for the upcoming Council elections and the European referendum.

Readers who have not filled out an individual form in the last three months should go to https://www.registerbyinternet.com/

Otherwise they need to write to Electoral Services at Worthing Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA.
