LETTER: Lovely lady

Would someone out there like make an old man happy, very happy?

On August 1, whilst visiting Worthing from Storrington, I was on a 700 Coastliner bus on way to a date with a lady I had met in the town the day before.

A very pretty lady boarded the standing-room-only, extremely crowded, bus and we were forced into close proximity with one another.

I just could not resist telling her how lovely she looked and, although not appearing to be a day over 60, she confessed to being 85 years of age – and I’m not even 80 until next May!

She enquired if I, as she, was also on my way to the ‘North something hotel’(?) – I cannot remember the name exactly.

I was not and explained about my date.

Had I not been, would’ve suggested I accompany her to wherever she was going or that we meet for a coffee, or a drink some other time.

Especially so, if I had known that the date with this other lady, who had been all over me the day before, would turn out, in the words of ‘Strictly’ judge Craig Revel Horwood, to be ‘a disaster.’

But it was too late, I had let the lovely lady, who I believe probably lives somewhere close to the seafront between the pier and Grand Avenue, out of my metaphorical grip.

I didn’t even get her name.

So, if she, or someone who may be able to recognise her identity from this tenuous description, can help put me out of my misery, would she (or they) kindly contact me. Please!
