'First-class' delivery leaves a lot to be desired

I WAS intrigued to see Councillor Coomber's praise for the Royal Mail in last week's Herald (Your Views, page 20).

I wish the reliability of distribution he referred to extended to letters, also.

Out of the last eight letters I have sent by recorded delivery, only four have reached their destination.

I gave up completing the complaints form after the second loss, as Royal Mail did not seem to be listening, and merely sent me 12 (or was it six?) first-class stamps by way of "compensation".

Since then, I have had other letters sent by so-called "first-class post" go missing.

For important letters, I now either deliver the letter myself, or use Royal Mail Special Delivery '“ expensive, but, so far, reliable.

As regards the vagaries of email, I agree with Councillor Coomber's comments that email is not always reliable.

Sometimes, however, I find incoming emails from friends and relatives mysteriously appearing in my bulk mail folder.

Normally, I delete everything in the bulk tray, as it seems to be nothing but scams and adverts to enlarge specific parts of the male anatomy.
