EU integration is ludicrous

I am confused. One thing bothers me '“ well two really.

We signed up to the European Economic Community for the right reason and in good faith.

What we did not agree to is Brussels interferring with our everyday lives. I can understand grams, litres, meters and kilometres as that is in keeping with the whole of Europe.

However, we are still not entirely converted. But every little rule or regulation that affects us seems to come from Brussels.

I cannot believe that Germany, France, Italy and Spain would bow down and accept everything that Brussels dictates.

It occurs to me that the UK perhaps are the only ones who don’t conform to the rules and regulations of Europe.

If that is the case, then we have a lot of thinking to do. One thing is for sure – the British don’t want to be French and the Germans don’t want to be anything but themselves. So the idea of total integration is ludicrous. You only have to look at the UK. We are four countries all in one and we are all different.

Each country wants its own identity and wants to keep it that way – it’s human nature.

Why are we forced to pay billions of pounds into the EU funds, when every year our own public services are told to reduce costs?

Many of our necessary services are continually squeezed resulting in painful consequences. It just does not make sense.

If our PM could give us his assurances following his negotiations with Brussels, that these two points have been addressed, then I would be much more inclined to be in favour of remaining in Europe.

But I have to say, our PM has not made it clear exactly what has been agreed.

Nor has he said our billions of contributions can be reduced – what is going on? Perhaps our MP Sir Peter Bottomley can offer some clarification.
