Branson urges repudiation of referendum

Sir Richard Branson has urged us all to write to our MPs asking them to use their powers to repudiate the results of a referendum that should never have been called.

Repudiate the referendum

As Time Magazine describes it: ‘an epic gamble with the future of the country that was meant to mollify EU bashers in the Conservative Party and strengthen (Cameron’s) push for re-election’.

Such a complex issue should be decided by our MPs, not left to a public who could not fully comprehend all the consequences. I believe MPs have a moral duty to debate this, for three reasons.

1. A referendum is not usually mandatory, but only advisory.

2. It usually requires a majority of at least 60 or 65%

3. It has to be ratified by Parliament.

If that happens, it might bring back some unity among the people, especially those who regret voting to leave, now they see the chaos that has ensued.
