Ask for proof that trees were actually unsafe

A LOT has been written about young people and vandalism in Adur, but I have just witnessed the worst case of vandalism that I have seen in nearly 20 years of living in Southwick.

Two healthy trees on Southwick Recreation Ground have been cut down by council "vandals" for no apparent reason, except maybe to widen the access road at the side of the bowling green. Why?

There will probably be a reply next week from some council officer, saying that the trees were found to be unsafe.

If this happens, please ask for proof before you publish the letter, otherwise it is just meaningless spin.

Roads before trees '“ I suppose it's to be expected when you have a taxi driver as council leader.

With the local elections coming up, maybe it's time to elect some new councillors who care about the area we live in and actually walk around and enjoy the scenery, rather than wasting our money on destroying it.
