The Hooded Figures, by Jacqueline Buckland

THE hooded figures moved silently, but, the woman, who was a little ahead of the group, sensed them approaching.

She could feel them gaining on her, threatening to overwhelm her. Realising that there was no escape, she made a decision.

She stopped, slowly turned towards them and recognised them for what they were.

They combined to show all her past mistakes, her regrets and missed opportunities.

And as she stood and faced up to them they slowly disappeared.

With a new lightness in her step and hope in her heart she stepped forward into the future.
