TECHNOLOGY: Managing iPhone storage

We expect so much from our smart phones. We use them for pretty much everything.

Phone companies are constantly striving to improve services and enable our phones to do more and more, but this all comes at a price – and that price is memory usage.

The best place to start when tackling this issue is to check the storage on your iPhone and establish which applications are running it dry.

To do this simply go to Settings > General > Manage Storage. Here you can see how much mobile storage you are using, how much you have available left to use and how much of your phone’s memory each app is taking up.

Music and photos are often two of the biggest space hogs. An easy way to save space is to transfer the images you wish to keep to your computer. Another good tip is updating and changing the music on your phone frequently. This means you can keep good variety at your fingertips without having to store a huge selection on your mobile.

Finally, an easy way to create more space on your iPhone is to delete any apps which you no longer use. This is worth doing even if the app isn’t taking up a huge amount of memory.
