ST BARNABAS: Wick shop refurbishment and birthday celebrations in Rustington

After nearly 18 years of trading our Wick charity shop is undergoing some essential maintenance work, and we have taken the opportunity to make some exciting improvements and give the shop a new look.

Our Wick shop is one of our busiest and last year alone our incredible team of volunteers processed and sold over 50,000 items, generously donated by local people.

The shop closed on Monday and will remain closed for two weeks to enable the work to take place. Apologies to all of our customers and donors for any inconvenience.

Staff will be in the shop while works are being carried out and donations can still be made during normal opening hours, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

From one success story to another, it was a real pleasure to attend our Rustington shop’s 25th birthday celebrations recently.

Talking to shop manager Sue Miles and her team of tireless volunteers, it’s clear to see why the shop continues to be so hugely popular.

The chairman of Arun District Council, councillor Stephen Haymes, and mayor of Worthing, Sean McDonald, joined us for the celebrations, which included a beautiful handmade St Barnabas themed birthday cake.

Jan Harper, our head of retail, informed me that last year alone the team at the Rustington shop sold over 28,000 items, generously donated by local supporters.

I’d like to personally thank everyone who has contributed to the wonderful success of all of our St Barnabas House charity shops across the years.
