We have a whole range of volunteering roles at St Barnabas House. You could volunteer at one of our fundraising events, in one of our shops, or at the hospice itself.

All of the roles we are currently seeking volunteers to fill can be found on our website at www.stbh.org.uk/volunteeringOne role in particular that we are currently in the process of recruiting for is volunteer drivers.

We are looking for friendly people to assist patients and provide a safe, comfortable drive to and from the hospice.

Volunteer drivers will need excellent communication skills and the ability to empathise with patients.

They are required to have a valid driving licence and a suitable vehicle to provide transport.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer driver we are holding an open day on Tuesday, January 9 – please drop in at any time between 10am and midday.

Another way you could help support those in a more vulnerable situation than you during 2018 is by becoming a Dementia Friend.

Lucy Ashton, our community companions co-ordinator, is running a free Dementia Friends information session on Monday, January 15, and we are looking for local people to come along.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia.

It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition.

Anyone wanting to attend the Dementia Friends session should contact Lucy Ashton at [email protected] or 01903 706359.
