ST BARNABAS: Henfield charity shop celebrate tenth birthday with volunteers and supporters
I had the pleasure of attending our Henfield charity shop's tenth birthday on Thursday, May 25.
Staff, volunteers and hospice supporters gathered at the shop, which was decorated in a floral theme by manager Kylie Yates and shop volunteers to celebrate the occasion.
There was a beautiful handmade St Barnabas House birthday cake, made by Karen Bentley, one of our retail area managers, which I cut alongside Lily Stubbs, a regular customer at the shop ever since it first opened.
I was delighted to be able to present five and ten-year long service badges to some of the shop’s dedicated volunteers, as well as manager Kylie who has been running the shop since it first opened back in May 2007.
I would like to say a personal thank you to everyone in the Henfield community for supporting us with generous donations and custom over the past ten years.
Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers, without whom we would not be able to run the shop, including those who also represent our Henfield Friends Group.
Last year the Henfield shop team processed and sold more than 20,000 items, raising enough money to pay for 80 days of care for individual patients in our in-patient unit.
Kylie and her team are currently looking for volunteers to help out at the shop.
If you are interested you can find out more by calling 01903 700359, email: [email protected] or visit the shop for a chat.
