ST BARNABAS: Help make a difference at St Barnabas House

Somebody asked me the other day: “Why do you like your job so much?” This set me thinking.

Without a doubt it’s because I am so proud that St Barnabas House makes such a big difference to patients and their families at a time when they need us most in their lives.

Secondly, it’s because of the outstanding team I work with at St Barnabas House, and Chestnut Tree House, our children’s hospice, too.

Every person, from the nurses and the housekeepers, to the fundraising team and our many, many volunteers makes an invaluable contribution.

Without asking, they will go the extra mile.

St Barnabas House is known for providing excellent care to patients, but we can only do that by having excellent people on board who take pride in their work and care about making special moments for others.

You only have to pause for a moment in our reception area to see this for yourself.

Whether it’s the coffee shop volunteer who has remembered a visitor’s favourite cake and saved them a slice, or a member of staff who has offered to drive someone to the railway station because their taxi has not arrived on time.

I consider myself so very fortunate to be working with such lovely people.

If you would like to become part of the St Barnabas House team, we currently have both paid job vacancies and volunteering roles available.
