“We have looked after children from all over the county including Crawley, East Grinstead, Crowborough, Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Chichester and Billingshurst, to mention but a few.

“As the charity is based near Arundel we are very well-known locally, but many people still believe we only serve West Sussex. Others have not heard of us or are unclear about what we do.

“We are the only children’s hospice for the whole of Sussex. Because of the amount of families we help in East Sussex, we now have a base in Eastbourne to reduce travelling time and costs, not just for staff, but also for the families we support.

“We will be holding a number of events during this year to help people in the area get a better understanding of all the services and support we can offer, in particular our services in a child’s own home.

“This can vary from advice, symptom management and short breaks to end of life support.

“We often have a team working around the clock, 7 days a week, to ensure a child can stay in their own home, with family and friends around them, at the end of their life.”

Chestnut Tree House, in Dover Lane, Arundel, cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions.
