KEVIN KING: What are some of your simple pleasures in life?
Although I would agree that that is true, there are other things in life that lift your spirits and boost your mood without any need for the level of surprise at being able to use the word ‘brilliant’ in the same sentence as ‘England cricket team’.
The other day on the Breakfast Show I asked the question “what are those simple pleasures in life that cost nothing but make you feel good?” and these were some of the responses.

I did enjoy the answer that was given anonymously by a lady listener who simply said the words “skinny dipping!”
Unfortunately she didn’t hang around long enough for me to establish whether the pleasure is mostly in the feeling of freedom or in the feeling of daring.
I guess it’s the combination of the two but please don’t experiment at your local swimming pool or lido.

He got no argument from me and I have banked the question “where is the best view?” for another show, although virtually anywhere on the South Downs is a good bench mark.
Another popular answer was being able to enjoy a lay-in on a rainy day and, once again, there was much head nodding in agreement.
In a similar vein there’s the feeling of waking up suddenly in the night, looking at the clock and realising that there are still two more hours until the alarm; bliss!

And a smile on a sunny day? Perfect!
