Kevin King: warming up for Santa Dash...

THE things I get asked to do! Normally, I am one of the first to say: “Christmas adverts on the tele already? That’s way too early!”

As much as I love the festive season, the build-up does seem to start earlier every year.

My favourite television commercial, that I saw last month, was for a Christmas savings club to help with the seasonal spend for Christmas 2014 – a whole year and two months ahead of the day. Brilliant!

Last week, though, I joined in with the early starters by dressing up as Father Christmas for a photo shoot in the Splash FM studio to help promote the St Barnabas House Santa Dash, which is happening on the seafront at Littlehampton on Sunday, November 24. to raise much needed funds this brilliant facility and the new Hospice at Home service.

Last month on Splash FM, we helped to promote Hospice Care Week with a series of on-air features about not only the amazing work that our hospices do, but the incredible fundraising efforts that go into ensuring their survival – the funding from the government is only a small percentage of the total amount required. So, on this occasion, I am very happy to start getting Christmassy earlier than normal to help promote what should be a brilliant event, where hundreds of Santas will jog, run or walk the 3km course.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting your costume organised, as suit will be supplied on the day for over-16s, with Santa hats for the children.

So do come and join us on the day. It’s going to be great fun and it’s for a brilliant cause. Details on the cost and how to register are at our website www.splashfm.com
