Finding the funds

Every year we have to raise more than £3 million to support the work Chestnut Tree House does. We have a wonderful fundraising team who work so very hard to raise this amount year on year.

Some of our fundraising initiatives provide a regular income, like the Chestnut Lottery, but much of the funds we receive are thanks to the lovely people of Sussex helping us to raise the money, by doing all sorts of fun things.

We do receive a grant from the government every year for about 7% of our total costs.

I think most people are surprised it is such a small amount, but, to me, what is even more shocking is that it is almost August and we still have not received this year’s money yet.

I always have to plan ahead, and as we become more well-known across Sussex, more and more families are requiring help.

I never want to start to provide a service and have to stop it, as I would never like to let a family down, but without the ongoing support of the people of Sussex that is a reality I may one day have to face.

You can support us in many ways, not just financially, but by giving your time or expertise, by donating items for sale, or purchasing items at our charity shops.
