All are welcome to this free event, which celebrates the coming together of hundreds of talented and ambitious local residents, artists and event organisers. There will be displays and tasters of some of this year’s events, and canapés from Lesley’s Kitchen.

The festival, May 30 to June 14, stretches from Sompting to Fishersgate. The theme is Food Of Love and in Lancing, there will be two pop up tea rooms.

Vera’s Travelling Teas is popping up on the morning of June 12 at the Adur Voluntary Action Shop, serving vintage-style teas and cakes.

Katie Gander is building on the great work she did last year at Chesham House, working with the older generation to create a fantastic community event at Lancing Tabernacle. The event will give the whole community an opportunity to gain a real insight into how food and meal times have evolved over the last century, from rationing to cake-making to the introduction of all manner of gadgets.

Sompting Big Local is running some brilliant workshops for all ages, inviting you to create your Food of Love with paper-mache, modelling clay, drawing, painting, knitting, sewing and miniature gardening.

The Hub, in Cokeham Road, Sompting, is the meeting point, created by local people on a mission to make the area a better place to live, work and play. Jacqui Matten will be working with participants to bring a display of work created to the Lancing Street Party on June 13.
