The nursery in Gardner Road hosted an open fun day with over 20 families attending with young children, some of who are hoping to start at the nursery in September.

The day included a number of activities, including the treasure hunt where children could win a prize, as well as a tombola, face painting and a cake stall, along with a Henna stall set up by the daughter of a staff member.

The day was set up by staff to raise awareness of the nursery, which opened four years ago, and was recently given a ‘Good’ rating by Ofstead.

Manager Mandy Austin said: “We are part of West Sussex County Council, so we are a non-profit making business. I think the day went exceptionally well, and I am pleased we decided to do it when we did.

“A lot of the events ran very well, and I think a highlight was the children with the treasure maps. We did it so they would be able to have an explore of the nursery and we can show our expertise to parents. We also have a lovely garden which the children got to run around as well.

“I am very passionate about what we do and our staff work very hard. And a lot of staff spent an extra amount of time organising the event, which has been fantastic.”

The event took place from 10am to 1pm and refreshments were also available for families and the children, and parents were invited to discuss care hours with staff for children starting in September.
