No 'chip and bin' for Adur

BIG Brother won't be watching the rubbish, as Adur and Worthing councils have rejected a "chip and bin" system.

At a meeting to discuss the new joint mult-million pound waste and recycling scheme, the authorities voted unanimously against installing electronic chips, to record rubbish and addresses.

Adur District Council leader Neil Parkin said: "The committee was unanimous that it didn't want microchips installed on the bins because we have fears it would lead to people putting their rubbish in their neighbour's bin or even fly tipping."

A new weekly garden waste collection scheme is also being introduced.
