Five bands from Shoreham Allstars took to the main stage last Sunday after rain put paid to their planned performance on the group’s mobile stage.

David O’Connell, director of the Allstars, said: “Through a bit of ‘flukiness’ on my part, I persuaded the Concorde management that it would be good to get some of the kids playing on the stage, and lo and behold, we then had bands of nine-year-olds playing on one of the biggest live stages in Brighton.”

They had been due to play on an outdoor stage at Brightona, the charity bikers festival.

The event, which raises money for the Sussex Heart Charity, has gone from strength to strength over the years and features an array of bikes, stalls and music.

David said getting the chance for the youngsters to play on the main Concorde 2 stage had been ‘pretty cool’.

Back in Shoreham, young musicians with the collective have been invited to provide music for the official opening ceremony for Adur Ferry Bridge on November 13, when the Duke of Gloucester will open the new footbridge.
