New chief executive for Adur and Worthing councils

Adur and Worthing councils have announced the man they intend to appoint as their new chief executive today.

Alex Bailey, a former director of strategy and governance at Brighton and Hove City council, will take over from retiring chief executive Peter Latham in September.

The appointment to the £103,000-a-year post is subject to the approval of both full councils later this month.

The role of the new chief executive is charged with facilitating even closer working between the two authorities and building on the opportunities to streamline and enhance the partnership.

Mr Latham welcomed the announcement.

He said: “I look forward to working with and supporting Alex ahead of him commencing his job in September to ensure he is able to make a flying start in working for these two great councils.”
