NATURE writer Patrick Barkham returns to Steyning to launch his latest book.
The Guardian journalist will be the guest at Steyning Bookshop’s next Author Supper, being held on Wednesday, April 15.
Bookshop owner Sarah Bowers said: “We are really excited about this event. The author, Patrick Barkham, is a Guardian journalist and nature writer, with two critically-acclaimed books already published – Badgerlands and The Butterfly Isles.
“He came to Steyning for the publication of Butterfly Isles, which featured a sighting of the rare brown hairstreak butterfly in Steyning, and delivered an absolutely fascinating talk, so we are looking forward to welcoming him back to talk about his latest book, Coastlines, to be published by Granta books in April.
“Patrick will share stories from the writing of Coastlines, in which he walked all 742 miles of Britain’s National Trust-owned coastlines, weaving chatty personal recollections, fascinating historical nuggets and lyrical nature writing together with insights into our continual struggle against tidal erosion and human destruction.
“Patrick really is a hive of knowledge on all things natural so this promises to be absolutely unmissable.”
The Author Supper starts at 7pm at The Sussex Produce Café, High Street, Steyning. Tickets are £29, to include a two-course meal and copy of Coastlines. For tickets, call 01903 812062, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the bookshop.
