Popular multi-instrumentalist trio the Rude Mechanicals, augmented for the event to form a sextet, the Rude Mechanicals Occasional Orchestra, is set to perform next month.

The concert, part of the Adur Arts Live autumn festival, is at St Mary’s Church, Shoreham, at 12 noon on Saturday, November 5. Using a wide range of instruments, the band will play traditional tunes from historic collections, some contemporary pieces and a few folk favourites, all specially arranged for the ensemble.

Rude regulars Barry Ruffell, Ray Chandler and Mick Parker are joined by Geoff Peckham on string bass, Jeremy Sherman on guitars and Marianne Hillier-Brook on percussion.

The full instrumental armoury will include a Swedish nyckelharpa, English concertina, mandolin, mandola, fiddle, banjo, flute, piccolo, piano accordion and keyboards.

Rude Mechanicals concerts, often involving guest musicians to form the ‘Occasional Orchestra’, have become established as popular events in the annual Adur Arts Live festival which is organised by the Adur Arts Forum. Entrance is free.
