A GRAND tour of Goodwood House, in words and pictures, will be given in Shoreham next week.

Long-standing guide Hilly Sloan will host an illustrated talk at Marlipins Museum, on the corner of High Street and Middle Street.

Hilly was a Blue Badge guide in London before moving down to Chichester and now gives lectures on many aspects of local history.

She said: “As a history graduate, I am passionate about bringing the past alive and love using the context of major historical events to describe what was happening on a local scale.”

Home to the Earl and Countess of March, Goodwood House is an English country house nestled in spectacular Sussex countryside.

Hilly will talk on the origins of Goodwood House, its history and the family. Her pictures will enable people to have a grand tour of the rooms, their heirlooms and the paintings.

The talk will be held in the museum’s gallery on Friday at 12.30pm.
