MP voted Beer Champion

MP Tim Loughton has become a Beer Champion, receiving a special award for his work campaigning for pubs.

The East Worthing and Shoreham MP helped to secure last year’s historic cut in beer duty in the Budget.

He was presented with the award in Parliament last week, including a beer brewed especially for the occasion.

Mr Loughton said: “The scrapping of the beer duty escalator marks an important moment for local pubs and communities who have been struggling to stay afloat in times of austerity.”

The Beer Champion award is a joint initiative from the British Beer and Pub Association, Campaign for Real Ale and the Society of Independent Brewers.

All three bodies have joined forces again ahead of this year’s Budget on March 19.
