Market to stay open despite works

THE popular Wednesday market at the Shoreham Centre will carry on all through development and rebuilding work due to start in June.

Council contractors have agreed to keep disruption to a minimum, and have been asked to install a new entrance to the building before any disruptive work starts.

The market, open from 9am to 12.15pm every Wednesday, offers antiques and collectibles, bric-a-brac, home-made cakes, fruit and veg, plants and a butcher.

The market has been an attraction at the Centre for more than 30 years, and has become something of a social event for shoppers and browsers alike

The café will also stay open and manager Duncan Workman said he was determined to uphold his standards of quality and service at reasonable prices through what will be a challenging time.

“We’re delighted the market and the café will keep going throughout the rebuilding, as people appreciate the lovely opportunity to meet friends, catch up on the latest gossip, and shop in a relaxed and interesting atmosphere,” said Mr Workman.
