The seriously injured animal has been for treatment by a vet, and police said work is now underway to safely remove the dogs from the garden, with no danger to the public.

Police said the man from Worthing was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being a responsible person failing to prevent the causing of unnecessary suffering to an animal. He remained in custody this afternoon.
