Making the difference to local charities

Do you volunteer at a local charity and feel that it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves?

We might just have the solution to that problem as this newspaper is launching a campaign to highlight the good work of charities across its circulation area.

Although we already feature news about good causes from all across the area we realise there is still lots of excellent work which goes largely unrecognised.

Our campaign is designed to give all charitable organisations a platform on which to tell the world about their work. We want your stories and from next month we will run every relevant piece of information we receive.

We want to know about events, totals raised, milestones reached and individual achievements.

Please send your news to [email protected] and mark the subject field ‘Charity news’.

On top of this we are offering you the unique opportunity of having a special feature dedicated to your charity.

There will be no advertisement charges for charities taking part in any of these special features - although special profiles will include the purchase at trade price of extra copies of the newspaper which can be circulated in a targeted way to potential new supporters.

This is an article which will be entirely written by you and your colleagues/fellow volunteers. Blaise Tapp, community content editor, said, “We want to highlight fundraising events, special achievements by charity helpers, the charity’s plans and aspirations to do even more, and examples of their fine works.

“This unique campaign will culminate in a Sussex awards ceremony to mark the achievements of the most effective groups operating in a host of specialist areas - from those supporting the disabled to those caring for our environment.”

Please look out for more details of the awards - and if you believe your charity deserves recognition make sure you are entered.
