Make Poverty History

THE group Riverbank Arts have built a sign on Riverbank on Shoreham Beach for the Make Poverty History campaign.

They have used various images and letters to spell out the words Make Poverty History and in a statement, the group said: "We have become so good at manufacturing and acruing money that we have created one of the most expensive countries worldwide, in which to live.

"And this has been at the expense of other industry. We can no longer afford to build ships, our car industry is reeling and what clothes do we make here?

"It is so much cheaper to do it elsewhere and we are rapidly deskilling ourselves. Banking, insurance, advertising and the legal profession are all examples of industries in ascendence.

"The most important people in your life should be your family, your friends and your neighbours. They should not be the politicians with their multifarious agenda, they should not even be the pop stars singing their hearts out for good causes. You and yours. Make the G8 redundant."
