Major traffic as vehicle collides with cyclist

There are major traffic delays following reports of a vehicle colliding with a cyclist.

Sussex Police said: “Police were called to a collision involving a van and a cyclist in Goring shortly after 7am on Tuesday (13 December).

“The incident occurred at the junction of the A259 Goring Road and Parklands Avenue, and traffic was temporarily diverted while the scene was made safe.

“The cyclist – a local teenage boy – was taken to Worthing Hospital with minor injuries.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed they received a call at 7.05am this morning to the scene, and that the cyclist was a man in his thirties who sustained minor injuries, including facial injuries.

As a result of the collision, the A259 Goring Road in Worthing was blocked both ways between George V Avenue and Shaftesbury Avenue junctions.

There was very slow traffic on the A27 in both directions between Offington Corner in Worthing and Steyning turn off in Shoreham.

There were also major queues on Brighton Road in both directions between The Steyne junction in Worthing and Portslade.
