A letter was sent out to customers informing them of the closure of the bank branch on North Road.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Bank said:

“We have made the difficult decision to close the Lancing branch on 7th November 2016.

“This branch has been identified for closure because of the changing way customers choose to bank with us, which has resulted in customers using it less often.”

The bank reported that nearly 90 per cent of its customers already use other branches. The Lancing branch now only has 40 regular weekly customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause”, the spokesperson added.

Lloyds do not expect the closure to result in compulsory job losses, aiming to redeploy staff elsewhere.
