Legal firm enjoys successful year after expanding services

As senior partner Stephen Hollamby explained, despite the backdrop of a tough economy, the company, which takes on everything from family law through to probate and conveyancing cases, has maintained a loyal client base.

“We have been doing well, but it’s not about what happens in just one year, we have been developing over a number of years. Our focus on client care is fundamental to what we do,” said Mr Hollamby, who praised outgoing senior partner Peter Bennett who stepped down earlier this year, but has remained in a part-time marketing role.

The firm’s management now comprises fellow partners Ian Macara and Toby Barrett, who remain conscious of developing the skills of its teams. This resulted in gaining a bronze Investors In People accolade. There are now around 50 employees across its several offices including Warwick Street, Worthing, Ferring and Rustington.

Another of its key developments this year has been the key employment of two “trusted assistants” who are on hand to lend their clients additional support beyond pure legal services. This has ranged from additional assistance with legal paperwork, to practical help for elderly customers.

“What we do is all about helping people achieve their aims, whether that’s things like dealing with a divorce, matters concerning the custody of children or adoption cases. There’s a real ethos here of genuinely wanting to help people and we have a great team here.”

Its profile in the area has remained prominent over the past few decades, with sponsorship of the Adur and Worthing Business Awards.

He added: “It has been really worth being involved with the awards, which has helped raise the profile of companies in the community. I think it is a valuable as we like to be able to have the chance to speak to other businesses out there.”

His colleague, Joanne Edwards, shared his belief the firm has valued engaging with the community. Last month its annual bowling bonanza raised £4000 for Children In Need. She said: “We are very grateful to all the businesses that supported us, particularly those who join in every year, such as H D Tribe, Spofforths, Fresh Egg, Michael Jones and BNI. We were amazed by the generous raffle prizes businesses donated.”
