She said: “We really hope everyone in the area will vote for us.

“Fingers crossed that we get it.”

Meridian television cameras visited the club to film members making their case for the lottery funding.

The televised phone vote will take place on Wednesday, November 24, when the voting numbers will be revealed on the ITV channel between 6-6.30pm.

The club will be going head-to-head in a phone vote with a boxing club in Bexhill.

The Lavinia Norfolk Centre has been running as a pilot scheme since the summer and has regularly attracted about fifteen 11 to 18-year-olds, taking part in activities such as cooking, crafts, games and sport, with swimming in the school’s pool.

The £46,500 bid would enable the club to offer a wider range of activities, including residential trips, and also take members from a wider area.

There are currently no other clubs specifically aimed at autistic youngsters in the area.
