THE person hit by a train in Shoreham this morning was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police has just issued a statement.
A spokesman said: “Our officers were called to a level crossing on Eastern Avenue, Shoreham, shortly after 9.30am on Thursday, September 11, after reports a person had been hit by a train.
“Colleagues from Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
