“We aren’t the M3, said Lady Campbell, “So why should the speed limit be 70? It is near a residential community, there is a working farm nearby and the speed limit is the same as it is on the motorway. It is crazy.”

According to Sussex Police, a blue Audi A6 – confirmed by Lady Campbell as her car – was in collision with a green Audi A3 on the A27 near Castle Goring at 4.15pm on Friday, May 6. They said the Audi A3 then crossed over to the eastbound carriageway, where it was in collision with a silver Ford Focus. Police added the driver of the Audi A3, a 24-year-old man from Angmering, and the driver of the Ford Focus, a 25-year-old woman from Brighton, both suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Lady Campbell was unharmed.

Lady Campbell said: “The impact to my car wasn’t very great. I don’t think my life was in particular danger.”
